One Ocean Conservation Vision

Our mission is to promote a worldwide shift in the perception of sharks and to encourage marine preservation efforts on a global scale through our platform. The ocean and its diverse inhabitants, including humans, face numerous threats, and our conservation arm, @OneOceanConservation, consistently disseminates opportunities to participate in impactful initiatives such as signing petitions, submitting testimonies for significant policies, and ongoing campaigns. Additionally, we offer practical advice and suggestions to make a real difference in your daily life. On the second Saturday of each month, we conduct beach and reef cleanups on Oahu, awarding prizes to the individuals who gather the most debris or waste. # save the ocean # shark conservation #save the sharks

Shark Dive Adventures in Honolulu: Learn to Swim with Sharks with One Ocean Diving

If you're searching for an unforgettable ocean experience that blends education, conservation, and heart-pounding excitement, look no further than One Ocean Diving—Hawaii’s top-rated shark diving tour and proud 2024 Travelers’ Choice Award winner for Shark Tour and Shark Mission. Located just off the North Shore of Oahu and easily accessible from Honolulu, our programs offer a unique opportunity to experience shark diving in Oahu like nowhere else. Whether you're already searching “snorkeling near me” or considering your first-ever dive, our team of expert marine biologists and conservationists is here to guide you through a life-changing journey—swimming side by side with the ocean’s most misunderstood creatures.

Coexisting with Sharks Through Education, Research, and Advocacy

Founded by marine biologist and shark conservationist Ocean Ramsey, along with world-renowned underwater photographer and videographer Juan Oliphant, One Ocean Diving was created with one clear mission: to bridge the gap between people and sharks through education, respectful interaction, and science-backed research. Our philosophy is simple—we don’t just show you sharks, we teach you to understand them.

We believe that knowledge dispels fear. That’s why every shark diving experience begins with an educational briefing from our on-board marine scientists. You’ll learn how to identify different shark species by their markings, understand body language and behavior, and discover the pivotal role sharks play as apex predators in maintaining the health of marine ecosystems. It's part of our mission to reshape the public's perception of sharks—not as monsters of myth, but as intelligent, essential creatures deserving of protection and respect.

Science Meets Spirit: Responsible Shark Diving in Hawaii

Each shark diving charter is led by a marine biologist and a professionally trained shark safety diver, both of whom were trained directly by Ocean Ramsey and Juan Oliphant. We follow a strict, science-backed approach that emphasizes non-invasive, passive encounters with sharks in their natural habitat. No cages. No chum. Just pure, raw interaction that puts respect for the animal above all else.

Our focus on responsible ecotourism includes:

  • Real-time data collection (shark ID photos, behavioral tracking)
  • Research participation opportunities for guests
  • Ongoing community education programs in schools
  • Beach and reef cleanups supported by your tour fees

And for those who prefer to stay dry, we offer “ride-along” experiences where guests can observe sharks from the boat. Even many of our ride-along guests end up joining in the water once they see how respectful and awe-inspiring the interaction really is.

A Tour Designed Around You

Our state-of-the-art 33ft shark diving boats—some of the most stable in their class—are built specifically for Hawaiian waters. Each tour maintains small group sizes with a 6:1 guest-to-safety-diver ratio, ensuring personal attention and safe conditions. Freshwater showers and comfortable seating make for a smooth, enjoyable ride, even if it’s your first time snorkeling in Honolulu or free diving with sharks.

As soon as we anchor in the clear blue waters off Oahu’s North Shore, our safety divers are the first in and the last out, ensuring you feel confident and supported at every step. For beginners or those new to snorkeling Oahu, you can hold onto the safety line attached to the boat until you feel ready to swim freely. Our team will guide you at your own pace, always respecting your comfort level.

And yes—when you’re in the water with a Galapagos shark or sandbar shark gliding past, it’s even better than you imagined.

Transforming Encounters Into Conservation

Every guest becomes a part of our conservation mission. Our tours helped catalyze a seven-year campaign to pass Hawaii's historic HB553, banning the intentional killing of sharks in state waters—a law signed in 2021 thanks to the support and testimonies of our passionate guests.

We extend this advocacy beyond the water through:

  • Free school presentations on shark conservation
  • Jobs for marine biologists and educators (70% women)
  • Opportunities to adopt a shark, name it, and contribute to our research database
  • The ability to sponsor educational programs, reef cleanups, or school presentations in your name

By participating, you're not just learning about sharks—you're helping to protect them for future generations.

More Than Just a Dive – A Life-Changing Experience

At the end of each tour, we debrief with conservation updates and dive-specific research findings. You’ll receive insights into shark behaviors observed during your dive, hear about the latest developments in ocean conservation, and get practical tips on how to live a more ocean-friendly lifestyle—from reducing single-use plastics to making sustainable seafood choices.

Even during the boat ride back to harbor, the adventure doesn’t stop. We stay alert for sightings of dolphins, whales (in season), and sea turtles. While not guaranteed, these magical moments often cap off an already unforgettable day.
