Join our team here in Hawaii on a highly educational two-hour program to learn about sharks and how to share the ocean with them safely. Ocean Ramsey, shark marine biologist, and Juan Oliphant, award-winning shark photographer and conservationist, used their 20-plus years of knowledge diving with sharks to create the first non-caged commercial shark dive in Hawaii. They have hand pick and professionally trained their shark safety divers and marine scientists to guide advanced and novice swimmers, divers, or snorkelers into the ocean with sharks in the waters off the coast of the beautiful island of O'ahu. On the way to the shark dive site, our safety divers and marine biologists will give a thorough briefing and guide you in-water during your shark swim, dive, or snorkel. While assisting and protecting you during your shark dive, the marine biologist also collects research data on each dive. At the end of the dive, the marine biologist, naturalist, and research intern will provide a breakdown of the species and behaviors seen during your dive and answer any questions you have on the way in.

This shark dive is the most professional, qualified, certified, insured, and highly trained shark dive guides in the world.

A portion of the proceeds from the shark dives goes to help fund beach clean-ups and educational outreach programs.

The data collected during the shark dive helps support the conservation and research efforts locally and abroad.

If you are a beginner snorkeler, swimmer, or advanced free diver, this is the shark dive for you. Just let the safety diver know your skill level so they can cater to your shark diving experience level. No need to be nervous; you will be diving with the best. One of the main goals of the shark dive is to empower you with all the knowledge Juan and Ocean have learned in the last 20 years diving with sharks, essentially teaching you the skills and awareness needed to be able to share the ocean with sharks safely.

We can add professional video and photography options if you want to capture and share your experience.

The #Sharkdive is an interactive research-based shark program open to the public. One of the best shark dives for inspiring marine conservation.

One Ocean Diving's primary goal is to help educate people about safety considerations for coexisting with sharks as well as teach people how important sharks are for the health of marine ecosystems and hopefully inspire people to help protect sharks worldwide.

This is much more than just a shark dive. One Ocean Diving is division of One Ocean Conservation and a part of One Ocean Global.  One Ocean Diving is open to the public to facilitate an exciting and immersive program that supports the ongoing research while educating the public in a very fun way about  conservation needs and efforts.  One Ocean Diving is a feel good and easy way for the public to support marine conservation efforts while they have fun in a recreational activity under the safety of the most extensively trained professionals who work full time as marine animal researchers and guides.

We are passionate about helping people to better understand sharks and marine animals and we love to help people to learn how to safely interact with them in the ocean.

The One Ocean Diving pelagic  program is unique to any other  experience in the world!   You will learn so much practical and useful information about sharks and  marine animals on the quick ride in and out of the harbor so that if you were ever on your own and approached by large marine animals when you are not with one of our guides you will better know how to respond.

So come join us on one of our dives and experience it for yourself how incredible each species is! You will walk away with a new understanding and appreciation for these animals and hopefully will help spread the word to help save the ocean!

Expect to enjoy a unique, amazing, fun, and educational adventure swimming with sharks in the gorgeous blue water off Hawaii under the safety and guidance of professional marine animal researchers and experts who will share unique and useful information.

Meet at Haleiwa Harbor by the BLUE  KIOSK with the ONEOCEANDIVING.com sign on top.

Be sure to be there by ten minutes prior to your booking time (departure time.)

**The boats always leave on time so please don't be late, there is a strict no-show=no-refund cancellation policy so that all charters operate in the best weather conditions and on-time for people who need to make it to work or catch a flight so we always run on-time.  Please leave time for parking and just in case of traffic.  There are good cafes and shops if you get to Haleiwa town early.

You will be welcomed onboard one of our research vessels that will drive over and tie up at the loading area next to the big white fish scale scaffolding ten minutes prior to departure.  If its departure time and you are waiting at the kiosk walk over and ask the boat closest to the blue One Ocean Diving Kiosk where the One Ocean Diving Boat loads.

The captain will go over safety information and help fit you for a pair of fins.  On the way out to the dive sites your in-water shark safety guide and marine animal expert will explain everything you want to know about what to do, and what not to do, while you're in the water. The biologist will cover an overview of our research, some information about our traditional Hawaiian culture that ties into the Ocean, as well as the modern science, biology, physiology, social behavior, and how all of that relates to things that you can do to have a healthy and respectful interaction.  The information shared is also helpful in case you encounter large marine animals when you're on your own after the program and we are happy to say the information we share has helped people outside of the program to avoid adverse interactions, so its great information and a great program for anyone, even if you don't think you want to go in the ocean.

Want to swim with sharks? Come out with One Ocean Diving to learn safety tips, biology, physiology, and behavior and gain incredible first hand experience swimming with sharks.

Continued on the Experience

Some people sign up just to go on the boat to learn about sharks and  marine life and the on-going research, the program is very educational and you can see the animals from the surface so we encourage people to bring friends that might be scared or nervous, most people who say they are "just going out to watch from the surface and learn the information" end up getting in the water after seeing how much fun other people are having.  If you're planning to do the full program like most people you can rest assured that the bologist will be the first person in the water and the last person out.  All of the guides are extensively trained by the most experienced people in the world for working in-water with sharks and large Marine Animals. Your in-water guide and researching biologist will immediately get in the water and you can join them to experience first hand how beautiful and amazing the ocean really is. For your comfort there are lines with floats draping along the side of the boat with the ladder, you are welcome to hold on to the lines the entire time although your guide will invite you off to swim and or freedive down however we respect your comfort and swim ability and encourage you to relax and hold on to the lines if you would prefer not to swim around.  You are always welcome to get out and take a break or if you want to try a different mask, snorkel, fins, or simply have a question the Captain will be on board at all times to assist you while your other crew safety you in the water.  On the way back in your guides will share information and research variables specific to your dive as well as conservation information, our efforts, ways you can get involved and they will answer any questions you have while also looking for other marine life such as dolphins, whales, and sea turtles on the drive back in (**. We unfortunately cannot guarantee you will see whales, dolphins, sea turtles, every tip but we do see something every trip etc.)   We believe you will walk away with a new found respect for the ocean and will want to #savetheocean for future generations! Book online now to join us now.  We are ranked as one of the best boat charters in all of Hawaii

Parking: Please park by the little brown restroom building near the harbor entrance on the back side (west) of Haleiwa Joe's Restaurant.

When: General tour times vary by season and can be seen on our online booking system with live availability (weather permitting)

Book the early morning trips as they generally have the least wind and the calmest conditions. Early morning trips are advised, especially for those prone to sea sickness.

What to bring:

⁃    Towels (2 towels are advised for comfort)

    ⁃    Sunglasses

    ⁃    Drinking Water

⁃    Camera (small hand-held cameras are not permitted in the water)

⁃    Change of clothes are recommended

⁃    Biodegradable Sunscreen (Please no aersol spray sunscreen; we have extra sunscreen on board. It is Hawaii Law that you can only use "Reef Safe Sunscreen." We recommend Raw Elements brand)

⁃    We provide masks, snorkels, fins & rash guards, however, you are welcome to bring your own (please avoid the colors yellow and white)

⁃    Rash guards & wetsuits are highly recommended for jelly fish protection but not required (we can get comb jelly fish floating by irregularly). We have jelly fish spray and no-itch gell on board if you do get stung

⁃    We do have UV Xcel rash guards on board for you to borrow during your program, just ask the Captain when you board

⁃    We do not provide wetsuits

How to prepare:

⁃    If you are knowingly diabetic or allergic to bee stings or jelly fish, please let us know as soon as you board the boat and be sure to bring your medications onboard with you.

⁃    Please inform crew of any special medical conditions & medications. Safety is our top priority. Text the office at +1-808-649-0018 ahead of time and also let your Captain know as soon as you board. You should be physically fit and able to swim and snorkel with ease in waves and against strong current.

⁃    If you are prone to seasickness, make sure to take Dramamine the night before and 1 hour before boarding the boat to prevent it. If you feel seasick while on board, look at the horizon. You are welcome to bring any ginger lozenges or snack (like crackers) to help with nausea.

⁃    There is a dry storage on board for bags/backpacks, we just ask you to limit your items to one bag per person.

⁃    There is no restroom on board. There are restroom facilities at the harbor to use right before departure.

⁃    Persons under 18 need to be accompanied by a parent/legal guardian or have them sign the Release of Liability & Assumption of Risk waiver prior to boarding. Please reach out to the office if you need to sign the liability waiver prior to arrival.

⁃    *There is a 4ft heigh minimum to get in the water

⁃    Due to risks associated with an open water environment infants are not allowed on board.

Ride alongs must be at least 3 years old and everyone under 7 years must bring/wear a snug fitting life jacket.

You must be at least 4 feet tall to get in the water and bring their own fins (preferably all black or blue) to ensure a snug fit.

All guests must have properly fitting fins to enter the water, otherwise watching from the boat is still a fun and educational experience*.

⁃    We highly recommend against coming on the boat if you are more than four months pregnant due to the fact that a wet boat is a slippery unstable platform with many tripping hazards and hard surfaces.

⁃    Please be advised that the in-water portion of this activity is recommended for healthy, physically fit, and active people only and it is possible you could fall and slip or be hit by the boat in the water if you're not paying attention. You always have the option to get back on board the vessel and you always have the option not to go in the water.  The program is still extremely educational and exciting from on top of the boat.

⁃    To necessitate safety , there is a weight restriction for 250lbs per persons, for persons over 250lbs, please contact our office (+1-808-649-0018) so we can be sure to book you on a charter with multiple safety divers or have you purchase an extra ride along spot for everyones comfort and safety.

We retain the right to deny boarding and/or permission to go in the water if there are not sufficient safety crew scheduled. Each crew member on board is certified to lift up to 125-150lbs and in the unlikely event of an emergency we would be considered negligent if we didn’t have the physical ability to assist. *Please make sure to notify the office by call/text or email oneoceandiving@gmail.com in advance. **This is your your safety and comfort as well as the crew’s safety and liability**

⁃    Swimming & Snorkeling Ability: Basic swimming ability is required. Basic prior snorkeling experience is highly recommended.

⁃    *Important*: Each person coming on the boat must sign a Release of Liability Waiver before coming aboard and participating in our Pelagic Snorkel program. **If you are under 18 years of age and your legal guardian won’t be present at the boar harbor to sign the waiver on your behalf, please email our office at oneoceandiving@gmail.com. We can send the waiver ahead of time for you parent/legal guardian to print out and send prior to your charter with us (and for you to bring it with you to the harbor)**

⁃    We have a very strict 24 hour rebooking/cancellation/no show policy and will not be refunded/rebooked if you notify us of changes within 24 hours of your booking.

Mahalo nui loa and we look forward to having you on board soon.

**All this information will be included in your email confirmation after booking online**

  • ALL THIS INFORMATION WILL BE INCLUDED IN YOUR EMAIL CONFIRMATION AFTER BOOKING ONLINE.

The best time to see a tiger shark is now through November here in Hawaii. The best chances are to book charters for early mornings and pick the light wind days. Not to worry if you don't see the tiger shark on a dive because the Galapagos and sandbar sharks are still amazing and must see.
