Join our team here in Hawaii on a highly educational two-hour program to learn about sharks and how to share the ocean with them safely. Ocean Ramsey, shark marine biologist, and Juan Oliphant, award-winning shark photographer and conservationist, used their 20-plus years of knowledge diving with sharks to create the first non-caged commercial shark dive in Hawaii. They have hand pick and professionally trained their shark safety divers and marine scientists to guide advanced and novice swimmers, divers, or snorkelers into the ocean with sharks in the waters off the coast of the beautiful island of O'ahu. On the way to the shark dive site, our safety divers and marine biologists will give a thorough briefing and guide you in-water during your shark swim, dive, or snorkel. While assisting and protecting you during your shark dive, the marine biologist also collects research data on each dive. At the end of the dive, the marine biologist, naturalist, and research intern will provide a breakdown of the species and behaviors seen during your dive and answer any questions you have on the way in.
This shark dive is the most professional, qualified, certified, insured, and highly trained shark dive guides in the world.
A portion of the proceeds from the shark dives goes to help fund beach clean-ups and educational outreach programs.
The data collected during the shark dive helps support the conservation and research efforts locally and abroad.
If you are a beginner snorkeler, swimmer, or advanced free diver, this is the shark dive for you. Just let the safety diver know your skill level so they can cater to your shark diving experience level. No need to be nervous; you will be diving with the best. One of the main goals of the shark dive is to empower you with all the knowledge Juan and Ocean have learned in the last 20 years diving with sharks, essentially teaching you the skills and awareness needed to be able to share the ocean with sharks safely.
We can add professional video and photography options if you want to capture and share your experience.

Our meeting point is at the BLUE KIOSK with the ONEOCEANDIVING.com sign on top at Haleiwa Harbor. Please arrive at least ten minutes before booking to ensure you don't miss the boat. Please note that we have a strict no-show=no-refund cancellation policy to ensure that all charters operate on time and in the best weather conditions for everyone's safety. We recommend leaving plenty of time for parking and any potential traffic. If you arrive early, there are plenty of cafes and shops in Haleiwa town to explore.
Once onboard Mano Kai or Niu, the captain will provide important safety information and help fit you for fins. During the ride to the dive sites, your in-water shark safety guide and a marine animal expert will explain everything you need to know about safely interacting with sharks and other marine animals. Our biologist will also cover an overview of our research, traditional Hawaiian culture, modern science, biology, physiology, and social behavior, and how all of it relates to having a healthy and respectful interaction with marine life. The information shared is also helpful in case you encounter large marine animals on your own after the program, and we are proud to say that it has helped people avoid adverse interactions. This program is perfect for anyone, even if you don't want to go into the ocean.
Want to swim with sharks? Come out with One Ocean Diving to learn safety tips, biology, physiology, and behavior and gain incredible first hand experience swimming with sharks.
Some guests join the charter to gain more knowledge on sharks, marine life, and our research program without getting in the water. The charter is very informational in the hopes that all guests learn something new. Sharks can be seen from the boat on the surface of the water and even though some may be nervous about getting in the water, we strongly encourage it and promise the view is much better from below the surface. Most ride-alongs end up getting in the water once they see all the fun that’s being had in the water. Our professionally trained safety divers/biologists will be the first in the water and the last out of the water for your shark snorkel experience. The safety divers on our team are trained extensively by some of the most accomplished divers in the world with experience in working with large marine animals, including sharks. Once in the water with your safety diver, you can hold onto the line that extends along the boat for your convenience. The line makes it easier to view the surrounding sharks and wildlife that may appear on your dive. When your safety diver is ready, they will invite you off the line to swim and dive freely with respect to your comfort and swimming ability. All guests can exit the water at any time if needed to take a break from the shark snorkel. Our Captain on board the boat will help however possible if needed by the guest. Once the charter is over, our guides will provide information about your dive, conservation updates, what our company is doing to aid in conservation efforts, and any new data specific to the research currently being conducted. This is an excellent time for any questions to be asked so they can be answered by our experienced biologists. When on the boat heading to and from the harbor, we are always on the lookout for whales, dolphins, sea turtles, and other marine life. (**Seeing other marine life besides sharks is not something that is guaranteed**) We hope that all guests leave our charter with a newfound love and respect for our oceans and the creatures that inhabit them. The best time to see a tiger shark is now through November here in Hawaii. The best chances are to book charters for early mornings and pick the light wind days. Not to worry if you don't see the tiger shark on a dive because the Galapagos and sandbar sharks are still amazing and must see.
There's much to see here. So, take your time, look around, and learn all there is to know about us. We hope you enjoy our site and text us anytime with any questions. +1-808-649-0018
