9 Ways Kids Can Get Involved in Shark Conservation

Join a Cleanup

Help with beach, reef and park cleanups

Every piece of plastic pulled out of the ocean is one that never reaches a shark, turtle or seabird. Local cleanups are the easiest place to start.

Create Awareness Art

Drawings, posters and paintings of sharks change how people feel about them. Art is one of the most powerful conservation tools kids have.

Give a presentation to your class

Teach your classmates and younger students why sharks matter. We offer free presentations on OneOceanDiving.com that you can use — no permission needed. Link to presentations and at bottom of the page.

Do a fun challenge for a cause

Run, swim or jump rope for sharks. Challenges raise money and get whole schools paying attention.

Spread awareness on social media

Share what you learn. One good post reaches more people than a poster on a wall.

Share educational coloring pages

A great way to get younger kids interested in sharks before they've learned to be afraid of them.

Share story books and documentaries

Stories change minds faster than statistics. Recommend the ones that changed yours.

Learn why sharks matter — then tell people

Sharks keep ocean ecosystems healthy. Understanding how, and being able to explain it, makes you the person your friends and family listen to.

Encourage your parents to choose and vote ocean-friendly

Kids influence what families buy and how adults vote. Shark-friendly consumer choices and supporting ocean protection laws both make a real difference.

Free Shark Coloring Pages for Kids

Most kids learn to be afraid of sharks before they ever learn what a shark actually is. By the time they're eight or nine, they've usually absorbed the movie version — and that fear is hard to undo later.

Coloring gets there first. A child who spends twenty minutes colouring a tiger shark, choosing the stripes, noticing the shape of the fins, is doing something a documentary can't do: paying close, unhurried attention to an animal. They come away curious rather than scared. That's the whole beginning of conservation.

Our coloring pages are free to download and print — for classrooms, homeschool, birthday parties, rainy afternoons, or a quiet table at the back of the room. No sign-up and no permission needed. Each one features a real species found in Hawaiian waters, so kids are colouring animals that genuinely live off our shores rather than generic cartoon sharks.
